NetBoot/Reposado appliance
JAMF Software has made available a virtual appliance that is a Linux server hosting Apple NetBoot services and Apple Software Update services via Reposado, the open-source SUS replacement from Walt Disney Animation Studios.

This is incredible news. Thanks to both Walt Disney Animation Studios and JAMF we finally have a viable migration process to get the two major OS X services off Apple hardware and into the datacenter where it belongs.

This is a pretty major step in reducing the reliance on Apple server hardware, which looks like it has been crawling to a disappointing end in recent years. Fantastic work.
While I’m commenting, thanks for this blog. It’s a superb source of information for managing Mac OS X.
